The origin of “Xingyue”
The name “Xingyue” comes from a main-belt asteroid whose orbit lies between Mars and Jupiter. This asteroid was officially discovered by an astronomical team affiliated to Geely at the Lijiang Observatory of the Yunnan Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The International Astronomical Union applied to name the discovered asteroid “Xingyue” to pay tribute to the “Xingyue spirit” of human beings who have been exploring the universe and the unknown since ancient times. Geely Xingyue has become the only model that shares a name with the planet.

In terms of appearance, the front face of Xingyue adopts the Geely family-style “Universe Reminiscence” front grille layout, which has a flatter and tighter visual effect. It is worth mentioning that the LOGO of Xingyue adopts an all-black color scheme, which is inspired by the original meaning of “Ego”, which represents the extreme sports and self-spirit of the product. Xingyue will also be Geely’s first model with a black car logo.
The side of the body can clearly see the fastback shape of the Xingyue, and the windows are added with black frames. In terms of power, the Xingyue will be equipped with a Volvo VEP4 2.0TD T5 engine with a maximum power of 175kW and a maximum torque of 350Nm. In addition to the 2.0TD power system, Xingyue will also launch two versions of the MHEV with 48V mild hybrid power and the PHEV with plug-in hybrid power based on the 1.5TD engine. The 1.5TD engine is a power system jointly developed by Geely and Volvo, with a maximum power of 130kW and a maximum torque of 255Nm. In terms of transmission, the 2.0TD model is equipped with a new Aisin 8AT gearbox; the 1.5TD engine is equipped with a 7DCTH gearbox.
