Bentley Motors suspends factory production in response to COVID-19

Crewe, 23 March 2020 From 20 March 2020, production at Bentley Motors’ headquarters factory in Crewe, UK, has been suspended for four weeks.

This move is aimed at actively responding to the relevant local policies in the UK in order to cope with the current rising infection rate of new coronary pneumonia. It is expected that the supply chain and market demand in some regions will be affected. However, through this measure, Bentley Motors better protects the health of employees, their families, and the public.

Until April 20, 2020, Bentley Motors headquarters factory will be in a state of suspension of production. During this period, the core business team at Bentley Motors headquarters will ensure normal work by complying with social distance regulations or working remotely.

Bentley Motors Chairman and Chief Executive Adrian Hallmark (Adrian Hallmark) said: “Bentley Motors puts the health of its employees as its top priority. In view of the current uncertain development of the epidemic situation, we have carefully considered and made this important decision. We have decided to do our best to ensure the health of our employees. We apologize for the inconvenience that may be caused to customers in some markets in the future. We will also pay close attention to the development of the situation, and our hearts are with the people affected by the epidemic, and we will go through the difficult time with them .”

Bentley Motors has implemented a series of measures to protect the health of employees, including: adjusting the daily operations of employee restaurants and stores, adding a number of epidemic prevention measures, and closing the company gym. In addition, not only will all meetings be conducted by phone or video, but all brand events will be postponed or cancelled.

Bentley Motors has also implemented special protection measures for employees who are at greater health risk, such as immunocompromised persons with pre-existing chronic diseases. In order to reduce the possibility of human contact, Bentley Motors conducted a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility of working from home, and implemented a large-scale remote working initiative since the establishment of the Bentley brand. In addition, related epidemic prevention measures also include suspending employees’ business travel across borders or regions.
