Crewe, 25th May 2020 Bentley Motors has crafted the new Flying Spur with the most refined and luxurious interior space ever created by Bentley Motors.
The interior of the new Flying Spur contains 350 pieces of selected leather materials, and 141 Bentley craftsmen use up to 3 kilometers of stitching to handcraft 60 custom parts in the cockpit.
In order to ensure that the luxury interior of the new Flying Spur is of outstanding quality, each craftsman has undergone at least 5 months of professional training and learning to have the necessary skills for hand-made cars.
The interior cockpit of the new Flying Spur is selected from Nordic bull leather that complies with the concept of sustainable development, which is a by-product of animal husbandry. Thanks to the unique climatic environment, this genuine leather material is rarely attacked by mosquitoes and presents a flawless natural state.
The new Flying Spur has 14 leather interior color schemes for customers to choose from, and as many as 23 unique contrasting color stitching designs to further meet customers’ personalized customization needs.
As one of the core components of the new Flying Spur interior, the steering wheel contains the outstanding hand-stitched leather craftsmanship in the automotive industry. This part is made using the cross-stitch method, and the stitches up to 5 meters are precisely shuttled through 352 needle holes to form 168 exquisite stitches with unique shapes. The steering wheel parts in each car are carefully sewn by skilled Bentley craftsmen using special sewing tools for 3.5 hours. The complicated manual process makes it difficult for machinery to replicate.
With five different types of sewing machines, Bentley craftsmen embroidered stitches of different thicknesses in the luxury cockpit of the new Flying Spur, showing Bentley’s superb craftsmanship and the highest attention to detail. For example, relatively thin stitches are used around the airbag to ensure travel safety.
The new Flying Spur’s front and rear seats took 12 hours to install by hand and take comfort to a whole new level. Customers can also choose the seat headrests embroidered with Bentley’s “flying wings” pattern, which contains 5,103 stitches, showing an exclusive luxury charm.
The three-dimensional diamond-shaped leather interior texture introduced by the Bentley brand for the new Flying Spur leather door panel for the first time has created a precedent for global automotive interior design. It is inspired by the design concept of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6.
