Next year, the BMW X3 will become the first BMW model to offer four drive systems: diesel, petrol, plug-in hybrid and pure electric. China will be the largest market for the pure electric BMW iX3, which will be produced in China and exported globally. The BMW iX3 will also be the first model to adopt BMW’s fifth-generation electric drive system, which will greatly improve efficiency, thereby achieving a better balance between cruising range and battery size.
The BMW iNEXT, the technical flagship of the BMW Group, will be mass-produced in 2021. It is a pure electric vehicle that provides highly automated driving functions. The pure electric BMW iNEXT model will be produced in parallel with other gasoline and plug-in hybrid models at the Dingolfing plant in Germany. In addition, the BMW i4, as a pure electric four-door coupe, will also be put into production at the Munich plant in 2021, injecting vitality into the mid-size luxury car segment with a strong appeal.
Since its launch in 2013, the BMW i3 has achieved its classic status with its forward-looking technology and outstanding sales performance. The BMW Group will continue to develop the product further and currently plans to extend production until 2024.
