At the beginning of the article, let me say a few words~ I guess none of you have the short time to go to Tibet this time. It only took 8 days, but I still have to go to Tibet for a short vacation. I ran 6,000 kilometers in 8 days, Shanghai-Lhasa, Yunnan-Tibet line In the end, it was ‘flying’ out, haha~ This trip to Tibet is completely a road trip, which is a big test for the car and the driver.
There is heavy snow all the way and there are bad roads, but it turns out that the car is very good, and the driver is also very good. Although I have planned a lot before going here, I have to go here and there, and I have to take pictures of the galaxy, etc., but it is good. There are gains, surprises, embarrassments, maybe even if there is enough time, I think I will think about it for the second time after going there once, so I will leave regrets this time and look forward to the next departure!

Prepare items and routes in advance
1. Schedule:
On the first day, it was 1100 kilometers from Shanghai to Changsha, and I drove for 13 hours;
The next day, I drove 15 hours from Changsha to Kunming for 1,300 kilometers;
On the third day, I drove 500 kilometers from Kunming to Lijiang for 7 hours;
On the fourth day, I drove 400 kilometers from Lijiang to Deqin for 10 hours;
On the fifth day, it was 250 kilometers from Deqin to Mangkang, and I drove for 6 hours;
On the sixth day, I drove 400 kilometers from Mangkang to Basu for 10 hours;
On the seventh day, I drove 500 kilometers from Basu to Nyingchi for 12 hours;
On the eighth day, I drove 400 kilometers from Nyingchi to Lhasa for 8 hours;
On the ninth day, we set off from Lhasa and drove around Yamdrok for half a circle to the east, driving 500 kilometers for 12 hours a day;
On the tenth day, we went shopping in Lhasa, checked the vehicle, and flew back to Shanghai on the eleventh day. Due to temporary changes, the planned leisure trip has become a rush trip like express delivery, but it has also been proved that since the road conditions are getting better every year, I can basically satisfy safety, rest, photography, shopping for women, etc. at this time. required.
2. Vehicle equipment:
FAW 3.5 drove 5,000 kilometers in 2 months after picking up the car. I just wandered around in and around Shanghai. I had the first maintenance just before departure, and I didn’t change the oil. In addition, I made some simple additions to the vehicle that I think are suitable for my own gameplay. Replaced 5 STMAXX tires (introduced in the previous post), rated 5 stars; installed HP F520G driving recorder, not very easy to use, rated 3 stars; Iron General built-in tire pressure and temperature monitoring, solar models, generally easy to use rated 4 stars ; The advanced floor mats of the old section are easy to use with 5 stars; the self-made chassis guards at Shanghai Old Tank are easy to use with 5 stars; It’s easy to use 4 stars; other miscellaneous things can’t be brought to the table. Before the trip, I brought an auxiliary power supply, an air pump, a tow rope, and pasted a dark dragon film. I brought a bottle of glass water and haven’t used it up, which shows how easy it is to travel on the Yunnan-Tibet line when it is not the rainy season. that’s it.
3. Personal equipment:
I bring a bag every time I go out, and I still bring it this time. There are MSR double tents, two 0-degree sleeping bags, two inflatable moisture-proof pads, two plateau gas tanks, Huofeng’s cooking utensils and tableware, and other outdoor emergency equipment. A baseball bat. I don’t need to talk about clothes and medicines. What’s worth mentioning this time is that I brought two inflatable pillows, which turned out to be useful for back cushioning. The Prado seat is really uncomfortable. After driving for three or four hours, the left side of the waist , Buttocks hurt, and the adjustable lumbar support is completely useless. It is hard and uncomfortable to push up, but there is no support when retracted. In the end, I can only use inflatable outdoor pillows to cushion it, but it is not painful. So what I said to LD the most on the way was that I must change to a Lexus seat when I return to Shanghai.

Let’s start with Lijiang
There is really nothing to talk about on the road from Shanghai to Kunming. I have been driving at a high speed. Fortunately, the sky is beautiful and there are few cars and people on the road. Especially when passing through Hunan and Guizhou, I thought there would be a lot of traffic near May Day, but in fact It is spacious and sparse, only when I entered Kunming, I was stuck in a traffic jam for an hour. I have been to Lijiang before, and I stayed in the small courtyard of Pullman, which is quite unique. The two rooms are also suitable for family travel. I’m actually not used to living in this kind of overly spacious and overly stylish hotel. Although it looks quite high-end, it takes a long time to go to the toilet to boil water, and it’s not easy to find the light switch. The TV is still in the window. On the other hand, it is still a bit inconvenient to use.

I came to Lijiang 10 years ago, when I listened to Naxi ancient music, I don’t know if those old musicians in their 80s and 90s can still play it now, what is the status of this skill, there are still so many people in the ancient streets, and there are shops in various ancient towns across the country Homogenization is serious.
The weather in Lijiang is good, and you can see the snow-capped mountains in a slightly wider area. The ancient city of Lijiang was built at the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, but the later damage and reconstruction made the ancient style and historical charm greatly reduced, but compared with the water town in the south of the Yangtze River, it still has certain characteristics. All three of us have been here before, and this time we just came here for a stroll.
Unpalatable coffee, expensive and unauthentic food, hypocritical bars, and the same boutiques across the country constitute the atmosphere of an ancient town tourist area with Chinese characteristics. I tried my best to get rid of these unattractive points, strolling leisurely without taking a few photos.

Lijiang and the snow-capped mountains around Lijiang, I guess they would never have imagined that this place is now dubbed the capital of romance and the holy land of hook-ups. I saw a flower in a vase in a corner of the ancient street, waiting for customers from all over the country to consume it.

Leaving Lijiang, we plan to go to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. I have been there before, and this time I will take them to the snow mountain with the southernmost latitude. Although it is only over 5,000 altitude, the road is in an open space. The leader and girlfriends climbed on the roof and got high. ! It was still a short high-speed way to leave Lijiang, but it didn’t take long before I drove on such a national road. The road surface in Yunnan is well repaired, and I can basically run all the way, driving the Prado to corners. At first I felt a little trembling, but later More confidence is getting faster and faster.
When approaching Deqin,
Meili Snow Mountain appeared on the far horizon.
We stayed at the Guanjing Paradise Hotel in Deqin. I climbed up to the top floor of the hotel at around 6:00 the next morning to take pictures of the Sunshine Golden Mountain. Meili Snow Mountain is a huge north-south snow mountain group in the west of Deqin County, with a total length of 150 kilometers. Meili Snow Mountain is called “Kawagebo Snow Mountain” in Tibetan areas, and the local Tibetan people named it and endowed it with divinity. The one in the middle is the main peak of Meili Snow Mountain, with an altitude of 6740.

Leaving Deqin, the next stop is Mangkang, Tibet.

In the end, when Meili Snow Mountain gradually disappeared into the distance, we were also getting closer and closer to Tibet. The first stop after entering Tibet was the Yanjing scenic spot in Naxi Ethnic Township. We did not go in, but here, I give Prado the first Added No. 93 oil for the first time. In the next few days, Dabai was basically eating No. 93, and there was no adverse reaction. I couldn’t tell whether the decline in power was caused by the high altitude or the coarse grains. In short, everything went well without any worries.

The scenery of the Yunnan-Tibet line is not as steep as that of 318 in Sichuan.
The mountain is gentle, and the vegetation at 3000 altitude is not bad.
No matter how high it is, there will only be moss that has not yet greened.
The road from Mangkang to Basu is still relatively easy to walk. Although the road is narrow with many bends, it can at least maintain a speed of about 50 per hour, and occasionally sprint to 80. Prado is above 3000 altitudes, and 3.5 is more difficult, especially in the past. When going uphill after a bend, the response of the accelerator pedal to the bottom is relatively slow, and it is even more difficult after 4000. At 3000, I was still reluctant to use the S gear to limit the gear, and kept driving slowly with the D gear.
I really don’t understand the shift logic of the 3.5 Prado 6-speed gearbox. I don’t know if I have never driven the 4.0 five-speed gearbox, and I haven’t driven the 2.7, but the shift logic of the 3.5 six-speed gearbox is really incomprehensible. You say it emphasizes Low twist, it’s really boring when I don’t hang L4, so I have to keep shifting to S gear.
After entering Tibet, 214 turned to 318, the altitude has been between 3000-4000, and occasionally crossing the pass can reach 5000, I can only go up to S4 on the long straight road, and S2 when climbing, and it is more troublesome when encountering hairpin turns. I don’t dare to go back to 1st gear at once. When I’m ready to go out of a corner, I’ll go to S1 immediately. I’ll pull down to S3 after 4,000 to 5,000 rpm, and I’ll change it again after a while. It’s like driving a manual transmission. Isn’t this the fun of driving? Forget it, if you buy a Prado, you don’t expect to have fun driving in curves.
Last year I drove my 50,000-kilometer 2.5 four-speed Forester, and I had a great time running on the 318. Although the car is better this year, it is bigger and clumsier, and it is not as easy as last year. Of course, Prado is invincible on bad roads, and generally the rough roads are basically completely crushed.
Entering Tibet, there are more prayer flags on the roadside.
Therefore, I hope that the road will be worse. Like 317, the dirt road + shell crater will be more suitable for domineering. The 318 that does not collapse seems not suitable for Prado. Please tell me if I am doing too much.
318 After passing through Zuogong, it started snowing, and the dashboard showed that the temperature outside the car was 0 degrees. I got out of the car to take a picture to pee, and it didn’t feel that cold. There are a lot of self-driving tours. Looking at those bicycle enthusiasts, I admire their physical strength and envy their generous travel time!
After crossing the 72nd turn, a little Tibetan sheep herding came during the parking break. I asked him how old he was, and he said that he was 10 years old, yo, that boy is not low. My wife brought him a Snickers bar, and he seemed dissatisfied, hesitating and hawing, not knowing what to say.
Later, the little Tibetan came over and asked me embarrassedly, do you have any cigarettes? I was very happy when I heard that there are cigarettes, so I quickly lit one for him. I asked him how long you have been smoking, and he said it was more than a year. I asked if your mother knew you smoked, but he said no. , I gave him the remaining half pack of cigarettes, and he asked me how much this kind of cigarettes cost in broken Chinese. I said more than 30, and the little Tibetan smiled shyly.
Along the way, it was windy and snowy for a while, cloudy and sunny for a while, and the outside of the car was beautiful. However, I still feel that there are relatively few strong convective weather in Tibet at the beginning of May. Last July, it was raining, snowing and hailstorming this year. It is no wonder that the precious few days in early May when the winter passed and the rainy season did not come, It is the best window period for climbing the peaks of the Himalayas all over the world.

The rainy season is not here. The advantage is the weather and road conditions. The disadvantage is that the climate is a little monotonous and the clouds are not hovering in the mountains. Although this cannot meet the needs of a photographer, it is a luxury for urbanites who are plagued by smog. The blue sky and white clouds are precious enough!
Standing on the viewing platform at the 72nd turn, the southeast direction is the snow mountain pass just passed, and the southwest direction is the long downhill section, feeling the hardships and greatness of the road builders.
