1 Ganden Monastery
Gandan Monastery is located in the northwest of the center of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. It was built by the fourth Jebden Zumba in 1838. It is the only existing Tibetan Buddhist temple in Mongolia and the most incensed temple in Mongolia.
Gandan is a transliteration of Tibetan, which means “Tushita Heaven”, and it is the world taught by the future Buddha Maitreya. Therefore, Ganden Monastery can also be understood as: the temple of the Paradise of Paradise.
2National Museum of Mongolian History
The National Museum of Mongolian History is the earliest museum in Mongolia with the richest collection. It is located in the capital Ulaanbaatar and was formerly known as the Revolution Museum. In the early 1990s, it was renamed “National Museum of Mongolian History”.
3 Tula River
The Tula River is a river in north-central Mongolia. It originates from the Kent Mountain Terzeliki National Park and flows south of the capital Ulaanbaatar. It is a tributary of the Orkhon River and flows into Lake Baikal through the Selenga River. There are many trees growing by the river, and the leaves turn yellow in autumn, which is very beautiful.
4 Zhaishan Monument
The Zhaishan Monument is a ring as a whole, and tiles are pasted on the ring wall. The pattern of the tiles is based on the theme of the friendship between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Mongolia. It vividly shows the scenes of the Soviets supporting the independence of Mongolia and the Soviet army on the Mongolian border. Scenes of the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army and scenes including historical moments such as the space flight of the former Soviet Union.
The location of Zhaishan Anti-Japanese Monument is also the best place to appreciate the whole picture of Ulaanbaatar. When you climb up 300 steps, turn around and look down, you can have a panoramic view of the whole city of Ulaanbaatar.
5 Bogda Khan Palace Museum
The Bogda Khan Palace Museum, located in the southern suburbs of Ulaanbaatar, was first built in 1893 (the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty). Historically, it was the residence of Jebtsundamba Bokdoggen, the eighth highest religious leader of Outer Mongolia in the Qing Dynasty. and venues for political and religious activities.
Built in 1924 as a museum, the Bogdakhan Palace is located on the banks of the Tula River at the foot of the South Bogdakhan Mountain in Ulaanbaatar.
6 Terelj National Park
Terelji National Park is a better place to experience the natural scenery of Mongolia near Ulaanbaatar. You can see the beautiful grasslands and forests in the valley. Many Mongolians like to come here for vacation on weekends.
Terelji National Park has the most authentic Mongolian stone barbecue, which is absolutely delicious, but the waiting time will be longer and it will take two and a half hours to complete, and reservations are not accepted.
The resorts in Terelj National Park have three-story hotels, yurt-style rooms for rest, and golf courses and other facilities. There are rivers and forests when you go out. Many foreign backpackers will choose to camp here.
7Erdeni Zhao Temple
Erdenizhao is a famous ancient temple in Mongolia, located in Harahelin, west of the capital Ulaanbaatar. It was built in 1586 by Shetuhan Abadai Khan of Waikar Katuhan. After he converted to Lamaism, he personally went to meet the third Dalai Lama.
There are also precious cultural relics such as paintings, decorations, embroidery, and a large number of manuscripts, woodblock books, and inscriptions from the 15th to 17th centuries in the Erdenizhao Temple. It has extremely important reference value.
8 Saiyinshanda Gobi Desert
Saiyinshanda, the capital of East Gobi Province in Mongolia, is the fourth largest city in Mongolia. It is connected to the small town of Ula Ula in the south and the city of Nalaiha in the north. The urban area is 4 square kilometers.
In Mongolian, Saiyinshanda means “good pool”, however, it is one of the driest and dustiest provincial capitals in Mongolia. On the high hill in the north of Saiyinshanda City, there is a tank monument, which is called “Tank Aobao Mountain”, which divides Saiyinshanda into two parts: the old city and the new city.
