In the second half of this year, Kia officially launched a new generation of KX3 proud running in the domestic market. In foreign markets, this brand new compact SUV will debut as Seltos.
There are various signs that Kia will make the new Seltos a global product this time. Because, at the just-opened Los Angeles International Auto Show, the Kia Seltos officially debuted in North America. Along with the new car, there are two off-road concept cars based on it.
Not to mention, building an off-road concept car on the basis of such a small SUV is really unique. Therefore, when the new cars at the Guangzhou Auto Show and the Los Angeles Auto Show are intensively bombarding the circle of friends, let’s talk about these two small cars.
The two new Kia Seltos concept cars are named Seltos X-Line Trail Attack and Seltos X-Line Urban respectively.
Among them, the SeltosX-Line Trail Attack concept car will put more emphasis on the off-road passing performance of the vehicle. In terms of chassis, Kia prepared a 2-inch lift kit for it, which increased its ground clearance to 234 mm.
The matching wheels are 17-inch black wheels and all-terrain tires that focus on light off-road capabilities. In terms of driving form, full-time four-wheel drive and central differential lock are provided.
In terms of appearance, the Seltos X-Line Trail Attack concept car adds a bumper to the front bumper, and adds four LED auxiliary light sources and a winch to it. It can also be noticed that the area under the front bumper has also been reinforced. A top frame and LED auxiliary light source are added to the roof. In terms of color matching, the Seltos X-Line Trail Attack concept car is composed of contrasting colors of desert yellow and orange.
The Kia Seltos X-Line Urban concept car has also undergone a 2-inch upgrade, and the drive form also retains the full-time four-wheel drive and central differential lock. However, the image of the wheel hub is obviously much more delicate, and the golden color scheme is more reminiscent of the rally style.
In terms of appearance, the Kia Seltos X-Line Urban concept car cancels the auxiliary light source on the front bumper, and retains the top frame and roof auxiliary lighting. Overall, the Seltos X-Line Urban concept car will be more spiritual than the Seltos X-Line Trail Attack concept car.
In terms of power, the two Kia concept cars are equipped with a combination of a 1.6L inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with a maximum output of 130 kW and a maximum torque of 264 Nm.
In recent years, with the prevalence of cross-border trends, SUVs have increasingly lost their off-road passability. Therefore, Kia’s return with a concept car this time has also injected some fresh blood into the urban SUV gameplay.
