My Yusheng caused me trouble in the service area on my trip to the west of Sichuan a few days ago. The handbrake handle couldn’t be put down, and the car couldn’t move normally. It took half an hour to release the handbrake. Later, I got to know a few Yusheng veterans around me, and it turned out that two cars had the problem of broken handle cables. It seems that this is one of the problems that Yusheng is prone to. Now I will share with you the emergency treatment methods and maintenance experience.
Method 1: Use a screwdriver to gently pry open the place where the gearshift lever panel and the handbrake panel are connected, and pry up the gearshift lever panel. 1 and 2 are the two screws on the front of the handbrake handle panel, which can be withdrawn with a screwdriver. 3.4.5.6 is the four clips under the handbrake handle panel, and the panel can be taken out by gently lifting the handbrake handle panel upwards with a screwdriver at the same time. After taking out the panel, you can clearly see the entire mechanism of the handbrake. Use a flat screwdriver to poke the cable clamp in the middle of the gap of the handbrake handle indicated by the red 7 arrow to put down the handbrake handle and exit the handbrake smoothly.
Method 2: When the handbrake handle cannot be put down in the cab, enter under the chassis of the vehicle body. The handbrake cable adjustment nut is located in the middle of the vehicle body behind the gearbox. It is easy to find. Use a 13 hexagonal wrench to loosen the handbrake cable adjustment screw directly. The screw is withdrawn, and the handbrake can be completely released. The first method has a slightly higher technical content but can be done in the cab with an elegant posture; the second method must enter the bottom of the car and the action is ugly, but it can solve the problem that the car cannot walk normally due to the breakage of the handbrake handle cable, and will not break down on the road.
In my personal opinion, the breakage of the cable of the handbrake handle should not be an isolated case. It should be caused by unreasonable design, because the location of the breakage is at the 90-degree corner of the cable inside the handle. There is no separate cable for sale, only the handbrake handle assembly is replaced. In other words, changing the assembly does not guarantee that it will not break again in the future, so modification is necessary.
When removing the handbrake handle, you need to remove the four screws of the base. The one behind the driving position is not easy to remove. If the screw cap marked 8 in the above picture is facing the driver’s position, you don’t need to remove the four screws of the base. Remember to put the head of the screw marked 8 facing the driver when putting it back together! The screw cap must be installed on the driver’s side! ! ! It will be much easier to disassemble and assemble later. Push the plastic clip at the position marked 7 backward to withdraw the handbrake cable, remove the screw marked 8, and the handle can be taken out.
If conditions permit, you can take the handle to the place where the pull wire is specially processed to make a new pull wire. My method is to directly replace it with a soft rope. I am looking for a small rope drawn from a wear-resistant material to weave by myself instead of a small pull wire. Another kind of more wear-resistant thread is the brown thread specially used in shoe repair places, which is easy to find. When changing the line, the flexible clip at the root of the handle will fix the soft line. Adjust the length of the line at the position of the handle handle. You must test more until the position where the handle can be put down normally by pressing the button is fixed. Then put it all back together. At present, I use it normally and feel good. When I press the button, I feel that the soft wire is smoother, not as stiff as the previous steel wire.
Generally speaking, the handbrake design of Yusheng 350 is unreasonable in two aspects. One is that the cable is easy to break; the other is that the handbrake head has a handbrake effect when facing downhill, but the handbrake is basically useless when the car is facing uphill. There is no handbrake!
