In March, it was warm and cold, and the temperature was pulled back to 0 ℃ in an instant. It rained one after another, tormenting passers-by before the Qingming Festival. The travelers in the caravan set up camp and lit a bonfire in the thin spring rain. The night was getting darker, and after turning on the heating, the RV also became full of spring. Next, let’s make a pot of warm tea and talk about the RV heating. Compared with traditional passenger cars, RVs add top-mounted air-conditioning heating, bottom-mounted air-conditioning heating, and gas heating on the basis of the original air-conditioning heating. Of course, there is another type called “other heating methods”.
1. Automobile air conditioning heating
Automobile air-conditioning heating refers to the heating of automobiles on motor vehicles. Self-propelled caravans can use their own automobile air conditioners to continue heating during driving. Since the energy recovery of the car engine is used for heating, the energy consumption is negligible. However, the engine needs to be in the starting state at all times, but it is very inconvenient for the RV that has entered the camping state.
2. Top-mounted air-conditioning and heating
In terms of structure, RVs generally adopt two forms: top-mounted air conditioners and bottom-mounted air conditioners. Since they are installed on the top of the RV, they are called top-mounted air conditioners. The common roof-mounted air conditioner brand is mainly Dometic, because it is installed on the top of the vehicle without special consideration for the position of the air outlet. Also because it is installed on the roof of the caravan, the heat rises and cools down of the air flow, which will make it difficult for the hot air to go down, and the heating effect is not ideal. Therefore, some top-mounted air conditioners are directly designed as a low-temperature non-starting mode.
3. Bottom mounted air conditioner for heating
Bottom-mounted air conditioners are generally installed on the floor of the RV, so they are called bottom-mounted air conditioners. Like the top-mounted air conditioner, it uses 220V AC (110V AC for some imported vehicles) as energy source. Common brands such as Truma and Dometic. This kind of air conditioner has a very good heating effect, but it needs to occupy a lot of space in the vehicle due to its large size, and the position of the warm air outlet should also be considered according to the layout of the vehicle.
4. Gas heating
Gas heating is a common heating method for RVs. It generates heat through the combustion of gas for heating. Common brands such as Atwood (Atwood). As the most commonly used heating form for RVs, it has the advantages of low energy consumption and fast heating. The shortcomings are also obvious. Firstly, it needs to be driven by gas and 12V electric dual energy sources, and it is not allowed to be used during driving.
5. Heating by other means
Other ways of heating include oil heaters, electric heaters, reflective heaters (small suns), etc., which are relatively seldom used, and are usually used as supplements to the above four heating methods, so I won’t introduce them here.
Summary : Compared with heating, the heat preservation of the RV is more important when camping. A well-kept RV can greatly reduce the energy and time consumed by heating. In addition, the RV heating will not only be affected by its own configuration, but also Affected by external temperature, wind speed, light and other factors, especially the insulation of the caravan is not comparable to that of the house. In winter, it is easy to have a large temperature difference between the upper and lower sides of the caravan. Therefore, for heat preservation, it is necessary to choose according to different situations. A variety of heating A combination of methods can provide faster and more efficient heating. For RV heating, there is no best one, only the most suitable one.
