A few days ago, Toyota officially released a new generation of Highlander XSE sports model in the North American market. The new car will be officially unveiled at this year’s Chicago International Auto Show.
What is different from the sports version models we have understood before is that in addition to adding a set of sporty kits, the new Highlander XSE sports version released this time has also upgraded the suspension system, making its sporty positioning change. Well deserved.
From the appearance point of view, the brand-new Highlander XSE has redesigned the exterior kit, and the details including the air intake grille, front bumper mask, central air intake grille, etc. have been fully optimized. The image of the air intake grille has become a hexagonal feature, forming a whole with the large-sized central air intake grille. The internal structure of the headlights also adopts a unique and exclusive design.
The newly designed front bumper mask also significantly strengthens the changes in the curved surface. In addition, as part of the sports kit, the new Toyota Highlander XSE sports version also adds a lower spoiler lip, chrome-plated anti-scratch strips, and a chrome-plated exhaust kit at the rear. The design of the wheel hub also adopts the image of two-color multi-spokes.
Inside the vehicle, the new-generation Highlander XSE sports version adopts a red and black color scheme, and red packages are used on the seats and door inner guards.
In terms of power, the new generation of Highlander XSE sports version still retains the choice of 3.5L V6 engine with a maximum output of 220 kilowatts. In terms of chassis, Toyota has further optimized the adjustment of the sports version of the Highlander, which has further strengthened its lateral support capability. The electric power steering has also been tuned for sportiness.
In terms of driving form, the new generation of Highlander XSE will still provide the choice of front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. But from a sports point of view, it is clear that the four-wheel drive version is its essence.
According to Toyota’s plan, the new Highlander XSE sports version will be officially launched this fall. The domestic version of the Highlander will be officially launched in the second half of this year. As for whether it will provide a sports version, it is still unknown at present.
