On August 3, 2019, 206 employee representatives from 16 affiliated companies of Honda in China gathered in Xinghe County, Inner Mongolia, to participate in a joint tree planting event with Honda affiliated companies in China with the theme of “Green Future, Create Together”. Also participating were the leaders of the Xinghe County Forestry Bureau and some students supported by the second phase of the Honda Dream Fund. This year is the 12th year of Honda’s joint enterprise tree planting project in China, aiming to continue to work hard to improve China’s ecological environment.
Since 2008, Honda has carried out afforestation projects in Xinghe County every year, with a period of five years. As of the end of the first and second phases of the project in 2017, Honda has invested a total of 30 million yuan in a total of 14,500 acres of afforestation, and the survival rate of tree planting has exceeded 90%. In 2018, the third phase of the project will start. Honda will invest about 20 million yuan in the five years from 2018 to 2022 to plant seedlings on 7,000 acres of wasteland north of the high-speed railway in Xinghe County and south of the Jizhang Railway. . While gradually completing the vegetation coverage area, Honda also invited forestry experts to study and accumulate rich planting techniques in desert areas according to the characteristics of Xinghe County’s semi-arid climate and sandy soil, so that the survival rate of seedlings in the year of planting is 30% The average preservation rate after each year is higher than the requirements of national afforestation standards.

Honda not only provides tree planting funds, but also actively organizes employees to participate in this public welfare environmental protection project. As of 2019, Honda has mobilized about 2,500 employees of affiliated companies in China to participate in tree planting activities. Employees feel the meaning of afforestation by personally participating, planting saplings, and witnessing the growth of saplings.
In addition to tree planting activities, Honda has also been unremittingly persisting in various public welfare activities for a long time. The Honda Energy Conservation Competition has been successfully held for 12 years, and the Honda Dream Fund and the “Industry-University Co-creation” project aimed at cultivating talents have also continued for many years. Yasuhide Mizuno, head of Honda’s China headquarters, said: “We will continue to stick to these public welfare activities as always, take root in China better, and give back to Chinese society.” An enterprise expected to exist by Chinese society”.
