The products of the Jeep Wrangler series will never lack attention at any time. Personalized design and strong off-road performance make the Wrangler series complete the evolution of personalized positioning with a tool image. Have to admit, this is very successful.
However, the attention of the Jeep Wrangler will also be embarrassing. Due to the poor heat dissipation of the automatic transmission of the previous generation Wrangler, it would cause the vehicle to spontaneously ignite under extreme off-road conditions, and it once became the object of attention. And now the new generation of Wranglers seems to have continued this tradition.
A few days ago, FCA announced that it will initiate a recall in the North American market of 33,237 Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators equipped with six-speed manual transmissions produced from 2018 to 2020. The reason for the recall is that the Schaeffler clutch pressure plate currently equipped with it may overheat and break.
The fractured and rubbed clutch pressure plate debris may cause damage to the transmission input shaft, and severe cases will cause power interruption and vehicle spontaneous combustion. After the recall, Jeep will replace the clutch pressure plate with a new one for the owner. The new platen has already completed laboratory high-temperature testing in February.
At present, FCA has received a total of 13 related issues, and there have been no serious failures. At the same time, Jeep also stated that before the recall, car owners can identify whether the clutch pressure plate is invalid in two ways. One is whether the clutch pedal stroke is abnormal, and the other is whether there is a burning smell of the clutch. At present, the Wrangler series sold in the Chinese market are all automatic transmission models, so this recall does not involve the Chinese market.
