A few days ago, Iveco officially launched the Iveco S-WAY R racing truck specially built for the Hahn Racing team and the Schwabentruck team, thus kicking off the 2020 season.
The event took place on May 16, 2020 at the test track at the Iveco Heavy Truck Manufacturing R&D Center in Ulm, Germany. Considering the pandemic, only a small number of participants were invited to attend the event, subject to safety measures and hygienic norms.
Hahn Racing team driver Jochen Hahn and Schwabentruck team driver Steffi Halm tested the new model on the track, fully demonstrating the powerful performance of the car. The event was also live-streamed on IVECO’s Facebook page, allowing the team’s sponsors, staff and fans to watch the live event, highlights from the 2019 season and a preview of the new season.
Before hosting this event, IVECO conducted five months of development and testing. This brand-new racing truck inherits all the advanced design and engineering features of the 2019 Iveco S-WAY trucks – from the functional and comfortable cab to the up to 12% reduction in Cx drag coefficient and fuel economy. Improved aerodynamic design with an effect of up to 4%.
Six-time European truck racing champion Jochen Hahn nicknamed his new Iveco S-WAY R “Giulia”. When talking about his new car, he mentioned: “It is no exaggeration to say that the Iveco S-WAY R is the best and most stylish racing truck we have ever driven. I am very much looking forward to this ‘Iveco Bull’ on the track. its true strength.”
Schwabentruck racing driver Steffi Halm said: “From the outside, my truck is much nicer than Jochen’s. However, I don’t think it is very important this season, because he will only be able to see it from the rear. to my car!”
