In Santorini, Greece, there are old white castles everywhere, and the blue Aegean Sea~ On this romantic island, there is one of the most beautiful independent bookstores in the world.
The white-walled and blue-roofed churches on the Aegean Sea and the colorful sandy beaches make Holy Island the most popular Greek island for tourists. In the basement of a cluster of white houses in Santorini, two young people from the UK opened a bookstore, allowing people to linger on this dreamy island and wander in the sea of books.
The Atlantis bookstore is opened in Oia, the most beautiful town in Santorini, Greece, with an open courtyard-style balcony above it, which is not only a summer night open-air movie screening venue, but also a place for book sharing sessions Place, you can overlook the panorama of the Holy Island and the deep green Aegean Gulf, and the white ship shuttles right in front of your eyes.
Standing on the balcony of the bookstore, there is an unobstructed view of the blue sky and blue sea in front of you, and the ancient white castle behind you. When the sun is setting, the sea breeze is blowing, watching the sunset, and reading a good book. Tired from shopping, visitors can even take a nap on the beds provided by the bookstore.
Here, time slows down. life is so good.
“Everyone who comes here is the owner of the bookstore”, this is their slogan. Speaking of the birth of this special bookstore, it originated in the spring of 2002. The founders of the bookstore, Oliver and Craig, were on vacation in Santorini. They saw that there was no bookstore on the island, and after a few sips of wine, they became interested. , or open a bookstore on this island, and immediately name the imaginary bookstore “Atlantis Books”. The two smiled and looked forward to seeing their children running around in front of the bookstore one day. Finally, after some painstaking preparations, Atlantis Books officially opened in the spring of 2004.
Like most old buildings in Santorini, this building is basically built by digging a hole in the soft volcanic rock. The building looked like a cave, and it was the only stable way the people on the island could afford at the time. Now the structures look quaint and pleasing, like hobbit holes for the rich, but they are not, and it has been suggested that this is the best design for a bookstore.
Come here, read a book, taste a glass of wine, tease the lazy cat under the warm sun, it is better than heaven~
