It is understood that the new generation of Land Rover Defender will make its global debut during the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The design of the new car not only continues the shape of the classic Defender, but also incorporates a lot of modern technology, replacing it with a load-bearing body structure, and it will be delivered successively from 2020.
From the appearance point of view, the front of the new car adopts more straight lines and simple curved surfaces as the design language, and the overall shape is square and simple. In terms of the front face design, as the inheritance of the name “Defender”, the new car also adopts a rough and tough design. The quadrangular headlights have a large size, and the interior is separated by a semicircular light strip, which does not look complicated. At the same time, the new car is also equipped with a stepped front grille of the same color as the body, and the silver guard plate below extends to the fog lamps on both sides, making the front face of the new car have a wider visual effect.
In addition, we can also see that the new car is equipped with a roof of a different color from the body, and a larger-sized cooling vent is added to the rear end of the front fender. The protruding wheel eyebrows make the new Defender have a wider body, and the visual effect is more wild.
Judging from the previously exposed interior photos, the new Defender adopts a layered center console design. The four-spoke multi-function steering wheel has a “DEFENDER” logo in the center, and silver metal texture elements are added. In the center console part, the full LCD instrument panel, electronic gear handle, air conditioning control knob with temperature display, and wide center control screen all appear on the new car. Compared with the Range Rover family, the new Defender also retains more physical buttons.
The new generation of Defender will switch to a load-bearing body structure, the rear axle will adopt a multi-link independent suspension, and it will continue to be equipped with a four-wheel drive system. The power system of the new car is still unknown. Referring to previous information, the new Defender may be equipped with a 2.0T diesel engine, and more electrified derivative models including pure electric versions are expected to be launched later.
