Once upon a time, Mitsubishi’s high-performance cars galloped in various top rally events in the world. Products like the V55 EVO that are ready to participate in the factory have not seen any company that can reproduce this brilliance. However, after Mitsubishi invested heavily in the research and development of electric vehicles in the late 1990s and caused financial constraints, the glory that once belonged to Mitsubishi finally stayed in memory.
Recently, it was reported that Mitsubishi will put the Mitsubishi Triton Absolute concept car, which debuted in March this year, into mass production, thereby entering the field of high-performance pickup trucks. It seems that Mitsubishi’s high-performance glory has seen a glimmer of hope.

It is reported that the Mitsubishi Triton Absolute will compete with the Ford Ranger Raptor after mass production in the future. At least that’s the case in the patents filed by Mitsubishi. However, based on Mitsubishi’s current technical reserves, the new Mitsubishi Triton Absolute does not have the strength to compete with the Ford Ranger Raptor version. The latter is the flagship model after Ford Ranger returns to the North American market. The Ranger Raptor version is equipped with a ten-speed automatic transmission. And a 2.0L EcoBlue twin-turbocharged diesel engine with a maximum output of 213 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. It is especially worth noting that the Ranger Raptor version is also equipped with Ford’s high-performance suspension system.
And these are what Mitsubishi lacks. So in a strict sense, the competitors of Mitsubishi Triton Absolute will be more clearly on Ford Ranger Wildcat, Toyota Hilux GR Sport and other models. Compared with the Ranger Raptor version armed with Baja style, the positioning of the latter two will better take into account the needs of practicality.
