In 2018, due to the impact of domestic policy changes, there were very few imported RVs in the exhibition. The G600 imported caravan on the Sino-French joint venture Pailite caravan booth has undoubtedly become the focus of everyone. Of course, the reason is not only the reason for its import, but also the rare Fiat chassis used in this RV, which is very different from domestic RVs in terms of shape and interior.
The G600 RV is the original imported RV from the French Pilote RV Company. Since it was urgently seconded from the British factory to participate in the RV exhibition, all the vehicles have many British standards and features.
As a self-propelled C-style RV, the appearance of the G600 seems to be more like a domestic minibus model. The round body with a unique shape, and the modern lines outline the elegance and romance of French genes.
Fiat occupies the dominant position among the European RV chassis, and this RV is no exception. Unlike the B-type and C-type RVs that are routinely manufactured in China, this RV is manufactured using three types of chassis, and has a strong consistency in vehicle structure and overall design.
Due to the connection between the cockpit and the compartment, the length of the RV seems to exceed the limit of the 6000m model that can be driven with a C driver’s license, but the body size is only 5990mmx2300mmx2850mm, which perfectly meets the requirements of a C driver’s license.
The tail shape of the vehicle is relatively square, which is not only beautiful but also provides enough space for use inside the body. However, the taillights do not seem to meet the domestic regulatory requirements, and there should be some homework to be done after officially entering the country.
The right side of the body is the same as that of a regular RV, where the doors and outdoor storage spaces are gathered. However, the design of the outdoor kitchen has not been seen, which will be a considerable disadvantage to the RV life of Chinese people.
The storage compartment on the rear side of the RV is not only large in terms of opening and storage space, but also has 2 foldable storage panels added to make the storage space more changeable when used. In addition, the cleaning work of the box toilet is also carried out here, and there is no separate opening.
On the other side of the body, there is also a push-pull storage space and an inspection port for a fuel-type hot water heater. While utilizing the space, it also makes later maintenance more convenient.
The cockpit of the RV retains the basic features of Fiat models, but the design of the right-hand drive made us a little uncomfortable who are used to the left-hand drive, and then thought that this RV was produced in the UK. There are many storage spaces inside the cockpit, which is also in line with the setting of the RV.
The interior layout of the RV is a classic deck sofa in the front, the kitchen on both sides in the middle, and the bathroom and kitchen in the rear. The difference lies in the more spacious and reasonable handling of space.
The deck sofa seat at the front can accommodate more people than common RV sofas, especially after the cockpit seat is rotated, it can achieve a real “circular shape”. The table can also be lowered here to use as a bed at night.
As a C-type RV, the sleeping cabin on the top of the cockpit is naturally indispensable. However, the sleeping cabin here is manually folded, and the bed is put away during the day to increase the sense of space in the sofa area. Putting it down at night can meet the sleep needs of two people.
The kitchen of the RV is composed of a three-burner gas stove, stainless steel sink, range hood, combined cabinets and a 138L automatic temperature-controlled refrigerator. Such a rich kitchen configuration is enough to cook a rich meal when camping.
The bathroom at the rear adopts a wet and dry separation design, which can be called a luxury in the limited space of a C-type caravan.
Summary: G600 RV is the first batch of RVs launched by French Pilote RV in China. It has to be admitted that the advantages of a mature RV brand are revealed in terms of shape, configuration and details. Compared with its official quotation of about 1 million yuan, it will directly break the mid-to-high-end RV market monopolized by Mercedes-Benz chassis after it actually enters the market. We don’t know how this RV will perform when it enters the domestic market a few months later, let us wait and see.
