[e Group Overseas Report] In the past, Mitsubishi had financial problems because of its obsession with the research and development of new energy power, which directly led to the suspension of production of the brand spirit EVO and the cessation of replacement of Pajero. For a long time, Mitsubishi also had to use the concept car to brush up its sense of presence. At this year’s Geneva International Motor Show, Mitsubishi launched an Engelberg Tourer concept car as always.
By definition, the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer concept car is a plug-in hybrid model, which improves the off-road performance of the vehicle through a plug-in hybrid system. It can also be seen from Engelberg’s naming that another concept display of this car is off-road performance. According to Mitsubishi’s official information, the pure electric cruising range of the new Engelberg Tourer concept car is 70 kilometers under the WLTP test cycle, and the total cruising range can reach 700 kilometers with a full tank of fuel. The gasoline power is a 2.4L inline four-cylinder gasoline engine. For a model defined by the concept of crossing, this is in line with the needs of actual use.
From the perspective of the vehicle’s shape, the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer concept car is not a typical off-road vehicle with a non-load-bearing body, and its overall shape ratio continues the appearance of a load-bearing SUV. The hourglass-shaped front face of the Mitsubishi family still appears as the main feature of the front of the car. To be honest, this family-oriented front face of Mitsubishi is in place for shaping the sense of technology. A highly integrated roof storage space has also been added to the roof. Inside the vehicle, a three-row, seven-seat layout is provided.
At the same time, with the release of the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer concept car, Mitsubishi also launched the DDH ecological energy system, which combines a two-way charger, household solar panels and energy storage to further improve the plug-in Environmentally friendly features of hybrid vehicles. It can also be used as an emergency power supply in an emergency. This DDH system will be officially released in the European and Japanese markets in 2019.
The last two sentences, in fact, compared to the concept car, I would like to see the replacement of Pajero and the return of EVO.
