Recently, a group of spy photos of Land Rover’s new-generation Defender PHEV were exposed by foreign media. The new car will be built on a brand-new platform, equipped with a multi-link independent rear suspension, or a non-load-bearing body structure. Foreign media checked the license plate of the car on relevant websites, which proved that the car is a hybrid model.
Judging from the spy photos, the new Land Rover Defender still adopts the classic body design style, and the overall shape is tough and mighty. In addition, the design language of the headlights is closer to Land Rover’s family style. It is worth mentioning that the front of the car is also equipped with a front bumper, which generally only appears on models that are about to be mass-produced, or it means that the prototype car in the spy photos is already very close to mass-production status.
In terms of power, we don’t know yet. At present, it may be equipped with the power system on the Range Rover PHEV, with a maximum power of 404Ps (297kW) and a maximum torque of 640N m. It will become a competitor of the upcoming Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid version. The car is expected to be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September
