DAY4
When I see a big van on KKH, I can’t ask for anything more from the trip.
Gilgit- Islamabad
Today’s journey takes at least 13 hours, which is also the most dangerous part of KKH. The entire mountain road will pass through several Taliban-controlled areas on the way.
When I saw a large truck approaching me on a dusty mountain road, I felt that the long drive became less boring.
These walking artworks are trucks unique to Pakistan.
They pass by you with some kind of heavenly metallic sound, and I suddenly understand that trucks in Pakistan are not just a means of transportation, their dazzling colors, various stamping patterns, and even hand-painted, are like a A never-ending nomadic carnival.
Owners spend even more on trucks than on home improvements. For them, the truck is their home. From design to implementation, I gave full play to my imagination, fully armed from the outside to the inside and even the wheels, until I created a truck that I am satisfied with.
Layers of colorful bead chains, metal sequins, various patterns and decals, you can tell the owner’s taste at a glance. In this regard, they are not restrained at all. The more exaggerated and the more metallic sequins, the more they can show their wealth.
The rear of the carriage is also the focus of decoration. Some people will choose to paint contemporary art portraits, stars, great men, or their own family and son on the rear of the carriage.
A luxurious truck decoration even costs thousands of dollars, which is a huge expense in Pakistan.
But when you watch such interesting trucks turn up in the Karakoram Mountains, you appreciate the creativity of the truck drivers, giving you a little solace during the long drive.
Another consolation comes from the police. Not long after leaving gilgit, we began to be escorted by free police cars. Since this section will pass through some areas controlled by the Taliban, for the safety of Chinese travelers, such a police configuration is necessary.
What shocked us even more was that we successfully arrived at the intersection of the Islamabad highway until early in the morning. A total of more than 30 police cars escorted us. When each police car was handed over, the police would wave goodbye to us. Impatient with the trouble that comes.
It made us all feel very warm.
In Pakistan, we have received extremely high treatment. Since the trade between China and Pakistan is very frequent now, after Gwadar Port belongs to China, it will promote the economic development of both sides.
Pakistan has always regarded China as the most friendly country, and unconditionally protects our safety, and the police will accompany us when we stop by the roadside to drink tea.
Seeing that we were curious about using chopsticks, we taught them to use chopsticks. Everyone’s movements were clumsy and cute, which made us laugh out loud.
In exchange, they gave us the guns to play with, unguarded.
Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan. This city transformed from a forest is clean and fresh without too many high-rise buildings. It is backed by the tall Himalayas and faces the wide Indus River Plain. valley area.
The mountains are undulating and the lake is clear. It is a place with beautiful mountains and clear waters.
I originally went to the Faisal Mosque to take pictures, but was dragged by passers-by to take a group photo, and I felt like I couldn’t walk at all. People keep asking if they can take a photo with you, it’s like being a celebrity. But being a star is also very tiring. After taking dozens of photos, my face was frozen with laughter.
A few portraits:
