PSA’s SUVs have never had much to do with off-roading. On the contrary, the MPV-style space concept and the chassis tuning of French cars have become the biggest selling points of PSA’s SUVs. Last year, Peugeot officially launched a new generation of 3008, which was then unveiled in the domestic market and named 4008, while the name of 3008 continued to be reserved for its previous generation.
Therefore, in order to facilitate everyone’s understanding, when I talk about this concept car next, I still use the domestic name 4008-a few days ago, Peugeot officially launched an adventure concept car based on Peugeot 4008. In this concept car, we finally saw a little bit of French SUV and off-road related elements, although really only a little bit. In order to strengthen this off-road concept, PSA also drove this car to the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam to take a set of official pictures.
Judging from the overall image composition of the Peugeot 4008 Adventure Concept Car, PSA designers have adopted a way to refine the off-road atmosphere with the addition of kits. In terms of exterior kits, the Peugeot 4008 Adventure Concept adds a top frame, and on top of the top frame is an ARB roof tent and an LED auxiliary light source. At the rear of the vehicle, a bicycle rack is added. With the addition of these accessories, the Peugeot 4008 Adventure Concept Car began to have a taste of long-distance crossing.
The upgrade that is closely related to the improvement of its off-road performance is the combination of 17-inch steel wheels and Cooper AT3 all-terrain tires. Through this series of combinations, the grip of the tire has been greatly improved. And the image of the steel wheel hub is also very helpful in refining this kind of time-traveling style. But unfortunately, the Peugeot 4008 Adventure Concept Car did not lift the ground clearance, and of course there is no way to talk about the four-wheel drive system. According to Peugeot’s official information, the Peugeot 4008 Adventure Concept has also strengthened the wrapping area of the chassis guard. In terms of power, it is still 1.6T turbocharged power.
In recent years, the personalized appeal of SUVs has become more and more intense, and it is obvious that the improvement of off-road performance is showing a rising trend. However, for PSA, the lack of a qualified four-wheel drive platform and four-wheel drive system will become a major shortcoming.
