After successively launching the North American market and the Chinese market, Suzuki has significantly increased its product expansion efforts in the European market. A few days ago, Suzuki officially launched a new plug-in hybrid SUV in the European market, the Suzuki Across. The new car is based on the Toyota RAV4 Prime, and the details of the design have been adjusted according to Suzuki’s family design language.
The debut of the Suzuki Across is the first model born under the cooperation system between Toyota and Suzuki since they officially announced their cooperation last year. From the appearance point of view, the Suzuki version of the Across maintains the same body as the Toyota RAV4 series, but the design style of the front face adopts the design of the Suzuki family.
The supporting role of the large-sized central air intake grille for the front face of the vehicle is emphasized, and the image of the headlights has also changed the tough and aggressive image of the RAV4 and has become much softer. This change in Suzuki’s family-oriented design features also makes the front face of the Suzuki Across in line with the design of the GAC Toyota version of the RAV4 – Willanda. Yes, both are relatively soft styles.
The interior design of the vehicle is also consistent with the RAV4, but the LCD display above the center console seems to be a bit thinner than the RAV4’s thick design.
In terms of power, the new Suzuki Across is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 2.5L Atkinson cycle engine and two electric motors. The lithium-ion battery pack powering the electric motors has a capacity of 18.1 kWh. The four-cylinder engine has a maximum output of 129 kW, while the output power of the two electric motors is 134 kW and 40 kW, respectively, and the combined output of the three is 225 hp.
On a single charge, the Suzuki Across has a pure electric cruising range of 75 kilometers and a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. The performance of electric power is quite powerful. According to the needs of different driving conditions, the plug-in hybrid system equipped with Suzuki Across can provide 100:0 to 20:80 torque distribution between the front and rear axles. Grip on low-adhesion surfaces.
Purely from the point of view of the power system, the Suzuki Across and the Toyota RAV4 Prime are quite good plug-in hybrid models, but this product has not yet come to the Chinese market.
