About Old John Eurasia Self-Drive Tour
In April 2016, Old John took 5 families with him for 160 days, starting from Qingdao, driving in RVs, and traveling around nearly 30 countries and regions in Eurasia; in April 2017, he took another group of RV self-driving enthusiasts , to travel around Europe and Asia again; in April 2018, the Old John team took 10 RV families to embark on a journey around Europe and Asia in a RV for the third time; in April this year, we took another 10 RV family, the fourth time to open a RV self-driving journey in Europe and Asia. All preparations for this year’s Old John Eurasian RV self-driving tour have been fully completed. This year our team is also made up of ten RV families. The team members are from Fuzhou, Fujian, Xiangyang, Hubei, Wenzhou, Jiaxing, Huainan, Anhui, Lu’an, Shanghai, Xi’an, and Urumqi. There are also a lot of models, and the leading one is the Iveco double expansion car of our old John family. The caravan of Old John’s family has been fully inspected and maintained at Qingdao Iveco 4S store.
It is said that Iveco RVs accounted for almost one-third of this year’s team. In addition to the RVs of the old John’s family and the Xiangyang team members’ families in Hubei, there was also the latest Iveco Wolfson Double Expansion RV. The Iveco Double Expansion RV of the Old John family is already on the fourth “expedition” tour around Europe and Asia. I am still looking forward to the performance of these Iveco RVs of different years . Thanks to Iveco for supporting our three vehicles and escorting us.
This year our starting point is still Qingdao, Shandong. Most of the vehicles will be assembled in Xi’an, and all vehicles will be assembled in Urumqi.
Although the car has not yet officially started, there are already riders in the cities along the way cheering for us and providing us with help. For example, our local GOODRV in Qingdao, early last year at May Fourth Square, according to Qingdao customs, prepared “get out” dumplings for us who are about to go abroad. This year they not only provided a venue for our departure ceremony, but also prepared two farewell parties, which were full of emotions .
There are also the caravan club in Xi’an, our team members in Wuwei last year, the caravan camp of Camel Brothers in Xinjiang last year, old John’s mountain friends, fellow villagers, etc. It is really difficult to list them all, so thank you here!
Special thanks go to our team members from last year, the couple from Xuchang, Henan, who drove from Henan to Qingdao to see us off. We were very touched. The friendship of getting along day and night and going forward and retreating together during the self-driving tour of Europe and Asia in the first half of last year will not be blocked by mountains and rivers, and will not be forgotten by time, but like a jar of old wine, it will become deeper and more mellow with the passage of time.
