At the recently held Chicago International Auto Show, Volkswagen officially released the facelifted Atlas in the North American market. According to Volkswagen’s plan, the new car will officially land in the North American market in the spring of this year. The corresponding domestic version of the Volkswagen Touron is also expected to follow up with this facelift later.
In terms of size, the newly facelifted Volkswagen Atlas has an increase of 80 mm in body length compared to the previous version, and this size increase is mainly due to the change in the shape of the front bumper mask.
On the whole, the newly remodeled Volkswagen Atlas seems to have given up the family style of the American version of Volkswagen, and instead adopted the family design consistent with the European version of Volkswagen models.
Under the design language of European Volkswagen, the newly redesigned Volkswagen Atlas is obviously much more delicate. The horizontal visual expansion area of the air intake grille to both sides of the front of the car is more obvious, and at the same time, the degree of integration between the headlights and the air intake grille has also been significantly improved.
The image of the headlights is no longer a square feature, but has become a slender design with a sense of technology. The image of the front bumper mask has also become more delicate with the upgrade of the front face style.
At the rear of the vehicle, the taillights of the slightly facelifted Volkswagen Atlas have also been adjusted in response to the changes in the shape of the front of the car. Compared with the normal version, the R-Line version has further optimized the sporty image of the front bumper, side skirts and wheels.
Inside the vehicle, the slightly facelifted Volkswagen Atlas is equipped with an 8-inch LCD display as standard, and has upgraded digital instruments, stereos, and three-zone automatic air conditioning. The steering wheel adopts a newly designed multifunctional steering wheel.
In terms of configuration, the facelifted Volkswagen Atlas is equipped with driver assistance systems as standard, providing functions including collision warning, automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, and blind spot monitoring. The upgraded version of the active safety configuration also adds adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, parking distance control, traffic jam assist and other configurations.
In terms of power, the facelifted Volkswagen Atlas will still be equipped with a combination of 2.0T four-cylinder turbocharged power and 2.5L V6 power. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is also the biggest difference between the American version of Atlas and the domestic version of Touron. In terms of drive form, the facelifted Volkswagen Atlas still offers the choice of front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.
How should I put it, for the North American market, Volkswagen still continues the strategy of high allocation. However, this does not seem to have much impact on the performance of Volkswagen Atlas in the North American market. After all, the car is indeed a bit greasy.
