The results of the selection of the most beautiful five great lakes in China: Qinghai Lake, Kanas Lake, Nam Co, Changbai Mountain Tianchi, West Lake.
1. Qinghai Lake
Qinghai Lake is the largest inland lake in my country and the largest saltwater lake in China. It is vast and magnificent, and it is a huge treasure mirror bestowed by nature on the Qinghai Plateau.
Qinghai Lake was called “Xihai” in ancient times, also known as “Xianshui” or “Xianhai”. In Tibetan, it was called “Cuowenbo”, which means “green lake”. In Mongolian it is called “Kukunur”, which means “blue ocean”.
Because the area around Qinghai Lake belonged to the pastureland of the Beihe people earlier, it was also called “Beihe Qiang Sea”, and some people in the Han Dynasty called it “Xianhai”. It was renamed “Qinghai” from the Northern Wei Dynasty.
In 2011, Qinghai Lake won the “championship” of China’s top ten most beautiful lakes with the reputation of “peerless holy land, sacred lake in the world”, and was included in the book “China’s Most Beautiful Tourist Attractions”.
2. Kanas Lake
Kanas Natural Landscape Reserve is located in the northwest of Burqin, in the deep mountains and dense forests at the northwestern tip of the Altai Mountains in my country.
Kanas Lake, a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, a national geological park, a national forest park, a Chinese nature reserve, a national natural heritage, and a national low-carbon tourism experimental area.
Kanas Lake is the most beautiful lake in China, with towering snow-capped peaks, green slopes and molin forests, the lakes and mountains are so beautiful that it is known as “a fairyland on earth and a garden of gods”.
3. Namtso
Nam Co, located in the central part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is the second largest lake in Tibet and the third largest saltwater lake in China.
“Namtso” is Tibetan, and the Mongolian name is “Tengri Sea”, both of which mean “heavenly lake”. Namtso is one of the “Three Sacred Lakes” in Tibet.
Namtso is the first sacred lake of the ancient Zhang Zhung Buddhism, Yong Zhongben religion, and one of the famous Buddhist holy places.
4. Changbai Mountain Tianchi
Changbai Mountain Tianchi, also known as Baitou Mountain Tianchi, is located in the southeast of Jilin Province. It is the boundary lake between China and North Korea. The north of the lake is in Jilin Province.
Changbai Mountain is magnificent, rich in resources, and the scenery is very beautiful. It is one of the top ten famous mountains in China. It is famous all over the world for its sacred mountains and holy waters, and is known as “the first mountain in Guandong”.
Changbai Mountain Tianchi has been included in the “Man and the Biosphere” protection network by UNESCO and has become one of the world’s biosphere reserves.
In 1986, it was approved as a national nature reserve by the State Council. In 2006, it was promoted as the first batch of AAAAA-level tourist attractions by the country.
5. West Lake
West Lake, located in the west of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is the first batch of national key scenic spots in mainland China and one of the top ten scenic spots in China.
It is one of the main ornamental freshwater lakes in mainland China, and it is also one of the few lake cultural heritages in the “World Heritage List” and the only lake cultural heritage in China.
