Porsche has further expanded its compact SUV segment with the launch of the flagship model, the new Macan Turbo. Compared with the old model, the new Macan Turbo has been greatly improved. It is equipped with a new 2.9-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 324 kW (440 PS). 10%. Together with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the new Macan Turbo accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, a third faster than the previous model. The top speed is 270 km/h (an increase of 4 km/h). As part of the chassis optimization, the new Macan Turbo is equipped with the powerful Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB), which further enhances braking performance. In terms of appearance, the new Macan Turbo has a more stylish and dynamic style after the facelift of the Macan model. The unique elements such as the Turbo model-specific front apron and the fixed spoiler with double-layer design make the new Macan Turbo stand out from its car series. In addition, the driver and passengers can enjoy a fully optimized interior, including adaptive 18-way adjustable sports seats and the BOSE® surround sound system. The new Macan Turbo is now available for pre-sale in the Chinese market, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of RMB 925,000.
Powerful twin-turbo engine with central turbo layout
The 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged engine in the new Macan Turbo is the latest generation of engines notable for their central turbo layout and already used in the Porsche Cayenne and Panamera models. Its two turbochargers are housed in the angles of the V-shaped cylinders, with integrated cylinder head exhaust manifolds for efficient combustion. The air path between the combustion chamber and the turbocharger is shorter, making the engine more responsive. This engine produces 29 kW (40 PS) more power than the previous model’s turbocharged 3.6-litre six-cylinder, with a constant 550 Nm of torque between 1800 and 5600 rpm. Power is provided by Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with a 7-speed PDK Porsche dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Optimized chassis with Porsche Surface Coated brake system
The standard Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) complements the outstanding driving dynamics of the new Macan Turbo. This Porsche-exclusive high-performance brake system features tungsten carbide-coated disc surfaces for faster response, less wear and 90 percent less brake dust compared to conventional cast-iron brakes. High-gloss brake discs and white-painted brake calipers are typical features of the PSCB and are currently also available as optional extras on other Macan models. In addition, the new Macan Turbo is optionally available with height-adjustable air suspension (with optimized rolling pistons and new shock absorber hydraulics), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB ) to further improve the dynamic performance. The new car comes standard with new 20-inch Macan Turbo wheels.
Unique design with Turbo model front apron and double-layer rear spoiler
With its unique front apron, three-section grille and standard LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), the new Macan Turbo further defends its class-leading position. The new car comes standard with 20-inch Macan Turbo wheels, Sport Design side skirts and Sport Design exterior mirrors in the same color as the body, making the side profile stand out. The specially developed fixed roof spoiler in double-layer design is typical of the Turbo models. The standard sports exhaust system is easily recognizable by its twin silver tailpipes.
18-way adjustable sports seats and a surround sound system are standard
As the flagship model in the Macan car series, the new Macan Turbo offers a richer configuration. The standard configuration is the adaptive sports seats wrapped in full leather, with 18-way electric adjustment and memory function. An Alcantara headliner and a brushed aluminum interior package add to the high-quality ambiance inside the car. For car owners who prefer a sporty feel, they can also choose the GT sports steering wheel with heating function, which is common on 911 models.
The new Macan Turbo comes standard with Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a 10.9-inch Full HD touchscreen connected to a 14-speaker BOSE® Surround Sound System with a total output of 665W. The new Macan Turbo is fully connected, including online navigation with real-time traffic information and intelligent voice control. The standard Porsche Connect Plus comes with an LTE communication module, an integrated SIM card and a Porsche-specific plug-in SIM card, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot and numerous Porsche Connect services.
Options currently include a heated windscreen for all Macan models, as well as new Traffic Jam Assist with adaptive cruise control. In addition to being able to accelerate and brake semi-automatically at speeds up to 60 km/h, the system can also help drivers easily face congested or slow-moving traffic conditions.
