Shanghai, April 9, 2020—Mazda Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Mazda”)’s next-generation “MAZDA 3” won the 2020 “World Car of the Year Award” hosted by the World Car of the Year Awards Committee “WCA”. This is the first time a Mazda model has won this award in 4 years since the “MAZDA MX-5” in 2016.
The “World Car of the Year” selection was established in 2004 by international auto journalists. This year’s jury consisted of 86 journalists from 25 countries.
The next generation “MAZDA 3”
In terms of design, the next-generation “MAZDA 3” pursues Mazda’s design philosophy of “Car as Art” and further deepens the concept of “soul-moving design”, which is highly praised by the world. Adhering to the principle of “subtraction aesthetics”, redundant elements are cut from the body shape, allowing slender light to swim on the smooth body surface, and a unique shape full of life is designed to show the beauty of new life.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Mazda’s founding. Mazda hopes to brighten the lives of car owners through products in any era, and continue to create cars full of “driving pleasure”. Facing the next 100 years, Mazda will continue to challenge and create original products, technologies, and user experience, so that car owners will love the Mazda brand more and hope to own Mazda cars forever.
