The Adachi Museum of Art is located in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, and was founded in 1970. It has ranked first in Japanese gardens for eleven consecutive years and is known as “the most beautiful garden in Japan”. Six creative gardens totaling more than 50,000 square meters, including “Dry Landscape Garden”, “White Sand and Green Pine Garden”, “Moss Garden” and “Pond Garden”, use the method of borrowing scenery to visually blend the mountains and rivers that do not belong to the park with other scenery. As a whole, it embodies the unity of “harmony”.
Adhering to Mr. Adachi’s creative concept of “a garden is a painting”, the garden vividly displays the landscape that does not belong to the park, but the visual effects produced by the angle, so that although the whole garden looks small and exquisite, it is still beautiful. The main scene is patchwork and has a strong sense of hierarchy.

The natural mountains and the artificial courtyard are in harmony with each other. A rainbow appears on the left side of the picture, which makes the courtyard more lively after the rain. The red leaves in the courtyard of “Shouryuan” are the most beautiful. The contrast between the red maple trees and the green moss is even more beautiful.
4 White Sand Aomatsu Garden

The theme of the garden is “White Sand and Green Pine” by Yokoyama Taikan. This is the garden that Adachi Zenyasu worked so hard to create. Large and small pine trees are rhythmically distributed along the hills with gentle slopes and white sands, vividly expressing the world in the painting.

5 Pond garden

In the lotus pond garden, the light and shadow reflected on the lake will calm people’s hearts. The fronts of the simple rooms are of different sizes, and the combination of high and low trees and stone groups creates an environment full of artistic conception.

6 Kametsuru Waterfall

Kame Crane Waterfall, inspired by Yokoyama Taikan’s “Will Return to Hold Sacrifice Notaki” (collected by the museum), borrows the scenery of Turtle Crane Mountain to set up a 15-meter-high artificial waterfall.
