How to maintain the RV later, and what to do if the RV breaks down? Slowly, the questions are becoming more and more professional and practical. The answers to most of these questions are simple and clear, but the question “how to maintain a caravan?” is a question that many people don’t know enough, or even have a wrong understanding. Today I will talk to you about the maintenance of the RV.
RV maintenance can be divided into self-propelled RV maintenance and trailer RV maintenance according to the model.
Motorhome Maintenance
Compared with passenger cars, the maintenance of self-propelled RVs is more complicated, and can basically be divided into two major items, chassis maintenance and bodywork maintenance. Chassis maintenance is basically the same as that of passenger cars. Here we take the C7 model of Lanzhong RV (formerly Great Wall RV) as an example.
Lanzhong C7 touring car is refitted from the Great Wall pickup Fengjun 5, and the bodywork (modified part of the box body) is completed by Lanzhong Company. However, when the vehicle undergoes routine maintenance (such as: changing engine oil, engine filter, spark plugs, brake discs, etc.) and repairs, it is still done by the Great Wall Motor 4S shop, and enjoys the same rights and interests as ordinary Great Wall Motor owners. For example, if you buy a model C7 in Beijing Lanzhong RV store, you can maintain it at any 4S in the country, and the first maintenance and the second maintenance are free.

From the above maintenance items, it can be seen that there is no difference between the maintenance of Lanzhong C7 RV and the conventional Fengjun 5 models. But it should be noted that if you drive on bad roads for a long time, you need to shorten the maintenance cycle to increase the reliability of vehicle performance.
After talking about the maintenance of the chassis, the RV still has the upper part. Still take Lanzhong C7 as an example, the upper part of C7 refers to the vehicle box part modified by Lanzhong RV except the chassis, this part undertakes the functions of living, living and entertainment of the vehicle. The maintenance of this part is mainly based on appearance cleaning, screw fastening and regular inspection (alarm, water and electricity lines, electrical equipment). Due to the low overall wear rate, there is no fixed maintenance cycle. Most of them need to be solved by users themselves.
The maintenance items are as follows:
1. Body inspection: It can be completed simultaneously when cleaning the car, check whether there are scratches and bubbles on the body, whether the doors and windows are tightly sealed, sealant, the aging degree of the car body, and replace the aging unit.
2. Inspection of electrical appliances and furniture: Check whether the status of each home appliance in the car is normal, and fasten and seal the fixing screws on the furniture, the connecting screws and the sealant between the furniture and the car body.
3. Waterway maintenance: If the RV is not moving for a long time or is preparing for winter, it is necessary to drain all the water inside the RV.
After the above introduction, everyone should understand that the maintenance of self-propelled RV is similar to the dual maintenance of passenger car + housing. As long as you figure out which ones need to be done by a 4S shop and which ones need to be done by yourself, it will be very simple.
Trailer RV Maintenance
The maintenance content of a trailer-type RV is much simpler than that of a self-propelled RV. For the chassis, it is only necessary to check or replace the brake discs after a certain mileage, and tighten the screws on the vehicle chassis and tires. The interior of the compartment is the same as that of a self-propelled caravan, and the description will not be repeated.
After seeing the maintenance methods of the two models, I believe everyone has a general understanding of the maintenance of the RV. However, as a mobile home, the RV has extremely strong mobile attributes. Most of the time, I stay in a place far away from the original city. How to maintain it at this time? In fact, the maintenance of a RV is the same as that of a passenger car. You only need to find the nearest 4S shop for the chassis of the RV. For example, for the Lanzhong C7 RV, you only need to go to the Great Wall 4S shop for the chassis used (Great Wall Fengjun 5 pickup). The vehicle maintenance system records are also connected to the national network like passenger cars, so there is no need to worry too much about this.
Summary: The use of RVs is fundamentally different from that of passenger cars. Passenger cars tend to be two-point and one-line means of transportation, while RVs are more like a network platform covering many regions. The different ways of use also make the maintenance of the RV break away from the original fixed one maintenance mode. This model makes the composition of maintenance users of 4S shops more complicated, and also requires the after-sales service level of all 4S shops to be consistent. At the same time, here is one more word for RV users. As an outdoor product, RVs are mostly used in the wild under the premise of underdeveloped domestic camps.
