It’s the good time of the year to go out again, and many riders can’t hold back their inner impulse and want to go out for a wild ride. During long-distance crossings, frequently looking for gas stations will greatly reduce your journey experience. At this time, it is imminent to install a large-capacity and high-performance auxiliary fuel tank.
Land Cruiser is the car series with the longest history in the Toyota lineup. It originated from the Toyota BJ off-road vehicle in 1951 and started from the 20 series released in 1955. The term “Land Cruiser” is widely used by off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The Land Cruiser 200 (hereinafter referred to as LC200) is the seventh-generation model of the Land Cruiser, but according to Toyota’s meaning, it is imported into China with transliteration, such as Domineering is called Prado, and the Land Cruiser is renamed Land Cruiser. However, more off-road enthusiasts still like the poetic name of Land Cruiser.
As a full-size SUV, LC200 has become a very favorite SUV for many riders due to its strong off-road capability and comfortable and luxurious driving experience. Its body is larger than the Prado, and its off-road capability is not inferior. Of course, the fuel consumption is not low. Long-distance crossing due to the substantial increase in battery life, the inconvenience of oil barrels, the troubles caused by bad gas stations, low-quality oil and high-priced oil, the auxiliary fuel tank can be solved accordingly, so the importance of its installation can be seen.
Australia LRA’s auxiliary fuel tank has a super large capacity of 170L, plus the original owner’s fuel tank of 80 liters, the fuel reserve is as high as 250 liters. Greatly enhanced the battery life of our car. Even if you run from Shenzhen to Chengdu, there is no problem. Not to mention the need to queue up to enter the service area to refuel during holidays. Today I mainly want to share with fellow riders the installation process of the fuel tank:
1. When the car is on the shelf, the auxiliary fuel tank of the original car needs to be removed before installing the fuel tank. Because the capacity of the auxiliary fuel tank of the original car is relatively small, it is not enough for long-distance crossing.
After the screws are loosened, lift the original auxiliary fuel tank down.
Remove the hole left by the original auxiliary fuel tank to prepare for the installation of the LRA fuel tank.
When the two fuel tanks are placed together, the capacity will be known immediately.
Get the screws on the drop tank.
Take out the oil float of the crude oil tank. Because the height of the two fuel tanks is different, the original oil float cannot be used and needs to be refitted.
After cutting, soldering and other steps, come to get the oil float. Getting the oil float right takes up a significant portion of the entire installation process.
The modified oil float is ready.
After finishing the fuel tank, start to fix the fuel tank bracket. The whole process only needs to drill two holes on the girder, which can be regarded as non-destructive installation.
All set, go to the tank.
It takes a bit of ingenuity to push the auxiliary fuel tank up.
Fix the position and tighten the screws.
The installation is complete. After about two hours it was finally finished.
