When it comes to Zhuoni County, we must talk about Zhuoni’s meditation temple. The full Tibetan name of the Zen Ding Temple is “Gadan Xie Zhou Dang Zeng Da Ji Lang” , which means “Dousui Lun Xiu Ding Xinglong Island” , also known as Zhuoni Temple, is located on the platform about half a kilometer northwest of Zhuoni County. Here, the top of the mountain is shrouded in auspicious clouds, and the Tao River at the foot of the mountain is like a jade belt wrapped around the waist. Looking around the peaks and overlooking Taoshui, the temple is really a spiritual resort for promoting Buddhism.
Mr. Zhao Puchu, the former president of the Buddhist Association of China and a master of calligraphy, carved the three-character “Chan Ding Temple” on the temple gate on the top of the temple gate, which is eye-catching. This famous Tibetan Buddhist temple with a long history in Amdo Tibetan area is gradually restoring its former grandeur.
The earliest collection of Chanding Temple was presented by Sakya Dharma King with a rare statue of Sakyamuni carved from sandalwood with a snake heart as a gift to the temple as a commemoration of laying the foundation and passed down from generation to generation. The biggest supporter of the Zen Ding Temple was Tusi Zhuoniyang, which made the Chan Ding Temple one of the three major Buddhist temples in Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet. The temple has been up and down several times, and today’s Zen Ding Temple has begun to flourish again.
Today’s Zen Ding Temple was rebuilt later. There are three colleges, four temples, five Buddhist halls, temple gate towers and monk houses, about 80 buildings, and more than 200 monks.

After visiting the Zen Ding Temple, drive back to Zhuoni County along the road you came here, and pass Tao Inkstone Museum/Runyihao Tao Inkstone Processing Factory in Zhuoni County. You must know that Tao Inkstone is one of the four famous inkstones in China. I want to go in and visit it.
One of the four famous inkstones in China, it is as famous as Guangdong Duan inkstone, Anhui She inkstone, and Chengni inkstone, and is also called China’s four famous inkstones.
The production of Tao inkstone has a history of more than 1300 years. Produced in Taoyan Township, Zhuoni County, Gannan Prefecture, Gansu Province. Tao inkstone is well-known at home and abroad for its characteristics of green stone color, elegant and rare, firm and fine quality, crystal clear as jade, silent buckle, water drops when you lick it, fast ink development without damage, and long-term ink storage without drying up. It is a treasure of the palace, a treasure of literati, a gift for relatives and friends, and a wonderful flower in the antique inventory. Literati, scholars, calligraphers and painters of all dynasties praised Tao inkstone Fu inscribed poems.
In Tang Dynasty Liu Zongyuan’s “On Inkstone” recorded: “Qingzhou is the first storage inkstone, followed by Jiangzhou, followed by Shiduan, She and Lintao”. Zhao Xihu, a famous connoisseur in the Northern Song Dynasty, said in “Dongtian Qinglu Collection”: “In addition to the two stones of Duan and She, the green stone of Taohe River is the most precious in the north. It is as green as blue and moist as jade. The stone is at the bottom of the deep water of the great river, it is not caused by manpower, and it is a priceless treasure.”
Su Shi and Huang Tingjian, the great writers of the Song Dynasty, praised Tao inkstone: “Whether washed, it will make gold and iron, and when it is cut, it will be firm and dense.” To use martial arts, you must make the full frost and the autumn rabbit hair.” Zhao Puchu, a contemporary calligrapher, wrote a poem: “The wind and ripples are divided into Taozhou green, as firm as bronze and moist as jade.”
Tao inkstone is used to store ink in it, it does not seep through the night, it emits ink like oil, and it is slippery and does not reject ink. It is different from the other three inkstones. State green does not contain wind ripples, and can be sharpened like a cone.” Tao inkstone is highly praised.

The Tao inkstone process is very complicated: first determine the pattern to be carved according to the natural shape and size of the stone, then design the inkstone structure, style, decoration, etc., and then apply the knife according to the procedure. In addition to the use value, it also pays attention to the artistic appreciation value. Therefore, inkstone workers devote their energies to the compositional layout of patterns, producing scientific and natural artistic beauty. Tao Inkstone is fine and solid, splashing ink like oil does not damage a cent, writing fluently and brilliantly, there are “Duck Head Green”, “Liuyeqing”, “Grebe and Pelican Blood” and other rare varieties, the green contains stripes, forming ever-changing clouds and water ; Not only is it beautiful, but it also contains clouds and wind, and the ink is fast and economical.
Tao inkstone is moist, so breath or pearls, and ink can be used to write, and the ground ink can be stored in the inkstone, and it will not dry up or deteriorate over time.
After visiting the Zhuoni Dharma Temple and the Zhuonitao Inkstone, one of the four famous inkstones in China, we started a self-driving trip across Zhayana.
The itinerary to cross Zhayana is as follows: Zhuoni County – Colorful Terraced Fields Galiang Bay Observation Deck – Lintan – Guzhan Town – Zhagulu Town – Daogao Township – Niba Township – Dieshan Pass – Zhayana —Yiwa Township—Saiyin Hotel in Diebu County, the journey is about 208 kilometers.
