The Nissan NV 2500HD model itself is a truck with excellent carrying capacity. For those customers who pursue road transportation needs, the NV 2500HD model is powerful enough, but for Ian Johnson who likes off-road, there is only enough cargo space is not enough, he needs a van that can go anywhere. So we saw today’s protagonist, which Johnson called “NV Cargo X”.
The first part of this car to change is the engine. Johnson and his team dug up a 5.0-liter Cummins turbocharged diesel engine from the Nissan Titan XD model, and its power output reached 310 horsepower and 752N m. Compared with the original factory power, it has been significantly improved. In addition, the Titan XD four-wheel drive system was transplanted together. Of course, in order to install this four-wheel drive system, the suspension of this NV truck has also been upgraded and the chassis height has been increased. The 37-inch General Grabber 3X MT tires and new wheels also help to improve the ground clearance of this car. Finally, the ground clearance of this NV Cargo X has been increased from the original 206mm to 560mm.
In addition, Johnson equipped the car with a 10,000-pound winch, and new bumpers with integrated fenders. New LED searchlights and full-size spare tire, jack, portable welding machine and other equipment are all available, which can be described as fully armed.
After a series of tests, Johnson and his team said the car could handle challenging off-road sections. Although this concept car is unlikely to be officially mass-produced by Nissan, and even Nissan has not considered a plan similar to this concept car, but for the manufacturer anyway, the appearance of this concept car can indeed show the larger NV truck. Potential, and of course the promise of that excellent Cummins V8 engine in a van.
But for this car, Fred Diaz, head of Nissan’s North American truck division, showed some interest: “We didn’t think it would be interesting to change the NV truck to this, and it has indeed become omnipotent.” This NV Cargo X model will be officially unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, and we will be able to learn more about the details of this car at that time.
