Shanghai/Stuttgart. As a sports car benchmark that has spanned the world for more than 50 years, the Porsche 911 has now entered its eighth generation and once again leads the sports car world with four first-launch models. Today, the eighth-generation 911 family has launched an entry-level Carrera model, and offers two options of hard top and convertible. The new 911 Carrera models are equipped with a powerful 3.0-litre six-cylinder flat twin-turbocharged engine with an output of 283 kW (385 PS), an increase of 11 kW (15 PS) compared with the previous generation 911. The new car inherits many standard features of the 911 Carrera S model, including a new 10.9-inch touch screen, comprehensive interconnection functions and innovative assistance systems, among which the world’s first Wet (wetland) mode gives the new car a more stable wetland handling experience. In addition, the new 911 Carrera models use relatively small wheels and brakes, and the exhaust system is equipped with left and right single tailpipes. The unique design makes the shape highly recognizable. From now on, the all-new 911 Carrera and all-new 911 Carrera Cabriolet will simultaneously launch pre-sales in the Chinese market. Customers can go to authorized dealers to make reservations. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price will be announced on the official website later.
Like the new 911 Carrera S model, the Carrera model is extremely sporty in terms of engine, chassis and brake system. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder horizontally opposed twin-turbocharged engine adopts a newly developed turbocharger, and the size of the turbine and compressor is further reduced, which can stimulate the powerful performance potential of the new car, making the hardtop version of the new 911 Carrera accelerate from standstill to 100 km /h takes only 4.2 seconds, which can be increased by another 0.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, and the top speed can reach 293 km/h.
The new 911 Carrera models are equipped with 19-inch alloy front wheels (with 235/40 ZR tires) and 20-inch rear wheels (with 295/35 ZR tires), emphasizing the aggressive driving dynamics that the 911 is proud of. On the front and rear axles, black four-piston monobloc calipers paired with brake discs with a diameter of 330 mm provide the vehicle with excellent braking performance.
