The Western Sichuan Plateau covers Ganzi Prefecture, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province and other places
Compared with the Gobi no-man’s land that stretches thousands of miles in the hinterland of Tibet
Although the altitude is high
But not barren, full of life everywhere
Here is the water of Jiuzhaigou, the snow of Gongga Mountain, the grassland of Tagong, and the autumn scenery of Siguniang Mountain.
Of course, there are endless Nyingma Honghui

Yaqing Temple – Daughter Country Built by Faith▼

There are more than 20,000 monks practicing here, and the small islands in Changqu River are densely packed with small box houses, inhabited by Juemu (Tibetan female venerables are called nuns). This is known as the largest Juemu Island in the world. Zaba (male monk) lived outside the island.

Juemu must cross two bridges on the island every day, connecting the Sutra hall and the practice mountain respectively. After listening to the class, he will return to the island from one of the bridges.

At 8 o’clock in the morning, Juemu and other practitioners will turn around the mani stone scripture wall in the temple, and all practitioners of Yaqing Temple are not allowed to enter the store after dark.

At night, although the lights in each small box house are not particularly bright, the whole island is extraordinarily quiet and harmonious due to the lights in the densely packed houses.
Although the living conditions are simple, the temple will distribute 300 yuan of chanting money to them every month, but there are still smiles on their faces, just for the pious belief in their hearts.

Seda Buddhist College – Paradise for Practitioners▼
Seda Lama Buddhist Academy is located in Seda County, Ganzi, Sichuan.

The maroon houses are densely packed on the surrounding hillsides, which is not only a visual shock, but also a spiritual shock, and it is also a paradise for practitioners.

The precepts of the Buddhist Academy are very strict, and no idlers are seen wandering around. The monasteries for men and women are clearly separated, and even brothers, sisters and relatives do not visit each other.

The two major Buddhist colleges have different teaching and academic systems

The places where the classes are held are different for male monks and female monks, so there are two places.

There are two types of long-term and short-term advanced studies at the Buddhist Academy. The long-term study period is 6 years, but the special degree takes 13 years. Students who pass individual examinations in various subjects can be awarded the degree of Khenpo (Master).

Practitioners study in the morning and afternoon classes every day.

The curriculum of the college is divided into three parts: explicit teaching, secret teaching and common culture. There are two exams every year, and you will be promoted after passing the exam.

There are a lot of students of the Han Dynasty Xianzong in the Buddhist Academy, so there is also a Hanjing Academy, where Khenpo lectures in Chinese. Although the monks come from different regions, they all live in peace.

Baiyu Yaqing Temple▶
There are mainly three to four sutra halls for classes in Yaqing Monastery, and dozens of temple masters (weighty teachers) teach separately, and they are divided into different camps. The temple also strictly separates men and women during classes.
The open class here is a real “open” class. Those who come first can see the teacher in the small room, and those who come later can only sit on the grass and listen to the loudspeaker from a distance.
Influenced by the traditional culture of Tibetan areas, the status of women in Tibetan families is relatively low. Most of the Juem who came to Yaqing to become monks have not received basic education. The process of becoming a monk in a temple is also a process of learning culture.

Hundred-day retreat: The hundred-day retreat is the most important content of Juemu’s one-year practice in Yaqing.
by Photography Tribe Luran Qingfeng
Every year after the public class is over (probably after winter in November), it is time for retreat.
by Photography Tribe Luran Qingfeng
At this time, Juemu will enter a “matchbox” hut that only accommodates one person, and conduct a hundred-day retreat practice, exchanging extremely difficult living conditions for the joy of practicing Dharma around the clock.
by Photography Tribe Luran Qingfeng
After the 100-day retreat of Juem, less than 1% of Juem can be confirmed by Aqiu Lama’s achievement. Therefore, Juem who come here to practice will have to live here for at least three to five years, and at most ten years. It is an honor for Juem to be confirmed, and most of them returned to their hometown temples to become monks.

The driving force of life comes from not letting go
If you let go, I’m afraid you’ve already become a monk
If you have the heart and the opportunity
Or you can follow behind a kind and kind master
It’s okay to be a monk for a day
