As one of the earliest companies in China to deploy intelligent driving, in 2010, Chery cooperated with the Hefei Institute of Physical Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to establish an unmanned vehicle technology platform. In terms of related technical reserves, Chery has launched an autonomous driving technology platform in conjunction with Baidu Apollo. In 2019, Chery also launched a public road test in North America, becoming the 65th company in the world to obtain a test license for autonomous vehicles in California, USA. At present, Chery’s L2 autonomous driving models have achieved mass production, and it is expected to realize L3 conditional unmanned driving technology by 2020 and L4 highly autonomous driving technology by 2025.
In addition, Chery Automobile took the lead in strategic cooperation with China Telecom last year and signed the “Autonomous Driving 5G Application Project Cooperation Agreement”. The two parties plan to jointly build a 5G autonomous driving demonstration park and a 5G smart car joint laboratory. The two parties will jointly promote the application of 5G communication technology in the development, testing and demonstration operation of Chery’s autonomous driving technology. At present, the 5G network has achieved full coverage of the 5G autonomous driving demonstration park.
