“I travel in Yichun Fields, and I look around many strange mountains. There are countless mountains, and they are so steep that no one can climb them. There are lush green forests on the top, and Qingling Bay below. I feel pity for the rocks at the top of the bay, all of which are cut out by God.”
——Zhu Xi [Song]

Why does Mingyue Mountain have such a poetic name?
There are three versions:
It is said that the 12 peaks above 1,000 meters in Mingyue Mountain are arranged in a semicircle, just like a half moon, so it is called Mingyue Mountain.
The second theory is that Mingyue Mountain has stones on the mountain, and the night is like moonlight. Qi Ji, a poet monk in the Tang Dynasty, wrote a poem: “The mountain is called the bright moon, and the moon shines all over the mountain. If you want to go to the peaks, you can go in the middle of the night.” Qing Tongzhi years “” Anfu County Chronicle records: “Mount Moon is Mingyue Mountain. In Zhixi Baili, the stone is as clean as snow, and the light shines for several miles. There is a fairy altar on it, and there are many prayers.” Therefore, it is called Mingyue Mountain.
The third story is that during the Southern Song Dynasty, in Xiajiafang Village at the foot of Mingyue Mountain, there was a beautiful and intelligent girl named Xia Yungu, nicknamed “Mingyue”. Yungu was selected into the palace during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty. With her intelligence, loyalty and kindness, she became the empress of Zhao Min, the second emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty, and was known as Empress Cheng Gongxia in history. A golden phoenix flew out of the mountain nest, and everyone was proud of her and valued her, so they called the mountain in the southeast of the village Mingyue Mountain.
